In India we marry (each other(’s)) families. Child marriage & arranged marriage are common cultural aspects of Indian societies. In this piece I was trying to delve deeper than just a distinction between the two families, but trying to acknowledge other layers within arrangements that complicate one's life in such scenarios where a family, essentially, marries another family. First separation is that of male from female, further is to divide the females up by those married, & unmarried (of marriageable age). Each category of people have a role in the relationship as significant (male) or insignificant (unmarried) that role may be. The couple is scrutinized by & accountable to each.
